After acting for 28 years, Japanese-Taiwanese actor Takeshi Kaneshiro finally scores his first Best Actor nomination at next month's Golden Horse Awards.
Kaneshiro, 43, is recognised for his role as a lovelorn bar owner in comedy flick See You Tomorrow (2017). He is up against Taiwanese actor Kaiser Chuang (Who Killed Cock Robin) and Chinese actors Huang Bo (The Conformist), Tumen (Old Beast) and Tian Zhuangzhuang (Love Education).
Taiwanese multi-hyphenate Sylvia Chang, 64, is up for multiple awards for romance film Love Education (2017), in which she acted in, penned the script and directed.
She is nominated for Best Actress, Best Director and Best Original Script, contributing to the film's total of seven nominations. It is also up for Best Feature Film, Best Original Film Song and Best Supporting Actress.
The other Best Actress nominees are Hong Kong actress Kara Hui (The Bold, The Corrupt And The Beautiful), Taiwanese actresses Shu Qi (The Village Of No Return) and Ivy Yin (The Island That All Flow By), and actress Wen Qi (Angels Wear White), who was born in Taiwan and raised in China.
